Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 pineapple rings, fresh or canned (grilled with Todd’s Curry Sauce)
- 4 slices cheddar cheese or Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup Todd’s Curry Sauce
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- Lettuce leaves
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- Sliced jalapeños for heat
Directions
- If using fresh pineapple, slice into rings. Grill the rings on medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side to caramelize with Todd’s Curry Sauce
- Make the Smashburgers:
- Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (about 4 oz each). Roll them into balls.
- Place one beef ball on the hot skillet, press it down with a spatula (or a burger press) until thin, and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until the edges are crispy, then flip. Add a slice of cheese on top and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- While the patties cook, toast the burger buns on the skillet or grill until golden brown.
- Spread a layer of Todd’s Curry Sauce on the bottom bun.
- Add lettuce, a cheesy burger patty, and a slice of grilled pineapple.
- Layer with red onion slices and any optional toppings.
- Top with the upper bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides like sweet potato fries or coleslaw!
